Christmas in Milan in 5 steps
Street markets, skating rinks, lights, concerts and events: Christmas in Milan has never been so fun.
Here are the five must-sees and dos recommended by Starhotels Rosa Grand.
On the first day of December, Milan lights up: 150 streets are decked with lights throughout the holiday season.
Piazza del Duomo hosts the Musical Advent Calendar: Christmas songs in jazz style are performed live every day from the windows of the town hall buildings overlooking the square.
Standing in the middle of the Piazza is the big Christmas Tree, lit up with two thousand decorations and one thousand LED lights.
Piazza del Duomo houses also the Christmas market’s wooden stalls and, not far from there, beneath the Sforzesco Castle, the Oh Bej Oh Bej, the city’s oldest street market, glows with lights.
Like every year, the dome of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, the city’s famous shopping arcade, is decorated with 50 thousand LED lights hanging 47 meters from the ground to create a sky-like effect.
The magic of the Darsena Christmas Village is back with its skating rinks, Santa Claus House and fairy-tale wood, in addition to the Christmas Tree floating on the water.
