MAMbo – Museum of Modern Art
Designed to promote contemporary art in Bologna, MAMbo is an avant-garde museum offering interesting exhibitions.
National Picture Gallery
It is one of Italy’s best-known art galleries, for the richness of artwork it displays. Bologna’s National Picture Gallery has thirty rooms housing works by Bolognese and Emilian artists, from the 1200s to the 1800s.
It is named after the famous painter from Bologna, Giorgio Morandi, to whom the museum is dedicated.
International Museum and Music Library
It houses collections of documents covering six centuries of European music.
Civic Archaeological Museum
Beautiful and extensive, Bologna’s civic museum houses rich archaeological collections that testify to the city’s development since prehistoric times.
Civic Medieval Museum
The museum explores the history of Bologna through a rich collection of bronze statues, suits of armor, artifacts, illuminated manuscripts and monumental tombs.
Civic Museum of Industrial Art and Davia Bargellini Gallery
It is a wonderful house-museum (admission is free), with works of the Bolognese School, from the 1300s to the 1700s, displayed in seven rooms furnished in the style of an eighteenth-century mansion.
