The Island of the Lazaretto
In the Mid 400s a lazaret was built on this island with the purpose of preventing contagion from the plague. It especially became a quarantine area for the “Serenissima” ships suspected of having been infected. Original writings and drawings are preserved in the Tezon Grande (a large sixteenth century building). It can be easily reached from the Starhotels Splendid Venice.

Torre dell’Orologio
